2012 London Olympics Equestrian: Schedule & Dates

Competition between men and women is really amazing and entertaining. Equestrian is the single Olympic event in which genders (women and men) compete against each other as well as humans bond with the members of animal kingdom. All over the world, equestrian is known as riding, horse riding or horseback riding, but Olympic equestrian is totally different. It is not weekend horseback riding and expert horse racing where speed is everything but it is test of performance skills and the intelligence of both man and animal in three separate events including dressage, jumping and eventing. The 2012 London Olympics Equestrian will be conducted from 28th July to 9th August 2012 at Greenwich Park. The whole schedule is followed by three disciplines such as Dressage, Eventing and Jumping and each discipline requires diverse mastership from the riders and horses contending.

Eventing discipline is a three days event set with four rounds including dressage, cross-country and two show jumping rounds. The Jumping and Dressage stage is similar to the original Dressage and Jumping contests, but in the Cross Country event, riders have to complete master course in minimum time which is set with 45 jumps with points deducted for botched jumps and time penalties. The course is made with solid interrupts which test the boldness, scope, nerve and partnership of rider and horse. At the end of the competition, one fewest penalties rider will be selected as winner.

Jumping is also known as ‘Show Jumping’ which held in an arena, around way of approximately 15 fences. The competition is set in three qualification rounds and two final rounds.
